This year we are hosting an updated and green-man themed revival of our May Fair in 2015. The Fayre will take place on 20th May in Dartford’s Central Park and will encompass a wide variety of performers and activities.
Originating from the overarching theme of Spring, rebirth and renewal, we wanted to create an earthy, folky, traditional English Fayre model. The town already has a modern music festival in July, so our event had to offer a different aspect of community festivities. We aimed to reintroduce some of those traditional elements of the fair which in recent years have been sidelined in favour of more modern offerings.
The May Fair in 2015 was very popular and successful, but it was our first major event as a group and we took away a lot of lessons from it. This fayre will be more cohesive and interactive, with Morris dancers, dance acts, local food producers and craft beers. It will encompass vintage craft and local art stalls, a street art paint jam, local folk acts, traditional performers, competitions, a land art sculpture and much more.
We hope to engage the local community as much as possible and provide an alternative aspect of festival which is not so in line with popular culture, but more of an exploration in, and celebration of, artistic expression and connection with the natural world.
The DAN Spring Fayre will take place on 20th May 11am – 4pm in Dartford’s Central Park.
